Brussels Airlines pilots hold a strike: prepare for flight disruptions
Travellers who have planned their flights with Brussels Airlines should be aware of possible flight delays and cancellations. The unions representing airline company’s pilots have announced about planned strike days on 14th and 16th of May. It will definitely affect flight schedules.

The main reason for this action is that pilots are not satisfied with the wage proposals provided by the management of the company. They are also fighting for the possibility of earlier retirement and complaining about work schedules which are acceptable just by 8 per cent of airlines’ employees. About eighty per cent of pilots want to strike after consultations with the unions. Representatives of the Brussels airlines informed that the unions are making impossible demands. These disagreements between the pilots and their management will cause delayed and cancelled flights problems because of the planned strike days.
“A number of strikes are increasing every year. Unfortunately, there is a possibility that passengers will face problems with delayed or cancelled flights. We think it’s time to take matters into our own hands and try and make the law traveller-friendly, rather than pro-airline. Right now the petition is available on a worldwide community petition platform Avaaz and can be signed by any traveller,” comments Marius Stonkus, the CEO of flight compensation company Skycop.
When a significant amount of signatures will be collected by Skycop – the petition will reach EU lawmakers that will have to reconsider EC 261/2004 Regulation. If you have ever experienced cancelled or delayed flight due to airline staff strikes, you might want to join in on it.
