LOT airlines flight makes emergency landing in Warsaw, Poland
The airplane on a domestic flight from Krakow to Warsaw crash-landed at Warsaw’s Chopin airport yesterday, 10th January 2018. It is reported that the accident happened due to a chassis failure of the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, causing the plane to make an emergency stop on the runway. No injuries have been reported for the 59 passengers and four crew members that were on board.

Unsafe nose gear condition was reported while on approach to the airport, and the runway was sprayed with foam in preparation for the emergency landing. The accident happened at around 19:30 local time, and emergency services attended the malfunctioned aircraft that nose-grinded on the tarmac. The international airport was closed for about four hours and all flights towards Warsaw were diverted to nearby airports. The airport resumed operations after 11 PM the same evening.
It seems that history does repeat itself as this is not the first time that LOT’s aircraft made an emergency landing at Warsaw Chopin airport. In 2011 a Boeing 767-300ER traveling on the Newark-Warsaw route landed on the aircraft’s belly after its landing gear failed to extend. There were also no casualties reported.
