8 Best, Most Interesting Wedding Locations In Europe

We want our weddings to be memorable for things other than family drama or drunken relatives. That’s why many of us want to set them in astonishing spots. But how do you choose them? Well, here’s the Skycop list of some of the best wedding spots in Europe!

Senhora da Rocha, The Algarve, Portugal

Algarve is an enormously popular holiday destination in Portugal. Get there somewhere between April and June, when the tourist season isn’t in full swing. Many spots are also cheaper at that time. Probably the most famous is the chapel the Fort of Our Lady of the Rock – a stunning spot for a clifftop wedding surrounded by the sea!

The Kuhflucht Waterfalls, Bavaria, Germany

Marriage in Germany? More likely that you would imagine! However, why not skip all the castles, chateaus, manors and fortified outhouses in favor of the extremely beautiful Kuhflucht Waterfalls? At 270 meters, they’re some of the biggest in the country. Granted, it’s not exactly a hotel, so you’ll need to get to the spot to get married there, but if you want a stunning wedding in nature, this is your spot in Germany.

Cap Rocat, Mallorca, Spain

Mallorca is full of great places to get married (preferably away from the tourist-strewn beaches of the Bay of Palma). However, I must recommend Cap Rocat, a luxury hotel set in a renovated fortress that was never put to wartime duty. This place is in a protected natural area, so you know that nature will be great, and you can get married essentially on the beach. El Cabo suite, probably the best choice for the newlyweds, even has a private pool.

Castello Zamitello, Malta

Malta is another Meditteranean island lousy with both history and historical spots to set your wedding in. Castello Zamitello is one of the newest attractions (in that it was built as a honeymoon retreat in the 19th century) century and it’s popular among those seeking a wedding. Bonuses? You don’t need to be a citizen to get married there, Malta allows same-sex marriages, and both English and Maltese are official languages!

Santorini, The entirety of it, Greece

Santorini is the island somewhat midway between Greece and Crete. And it’s wonderful. Its architecture is resplendent in whitewashed buildings, making basically any spot on the island a good one for the wedding. Make sure to have the sea in the shot and you’re gold.

Gaztelur, Arcangues, France

Gaztelur was originally a mansion that dates back to 1401. Today, it’s a restaurant and a wedding venue among other things. The place looks fantastic as the owner has purposefully crammed it full of amazing antiques. The wedding options can be scaled up to accommodate 500 people, so you’re likely to have a grand ol’ time!

Boyne Hill House, County Meath, Ireland

Sure, getting married in a Latin country is cool and good, but what about tying the knot in Ireland? In this case, Boyne Hill House is at your service. This manor house allows you to arrive via a tree-lined driveway and say the words in a walled “secret” garden – after that, you have 38 acres of manor grounds for your use. Alternatively, get you and your spouse down to Ashford Castle in County Mayo (hah), which can accommodate weddings both small (think 2-10 people) and big (160 people and you possibly rent the castle).

Fort George, Vis, Croatia

Look, if I see a marriage spot in a fort or a castle, I will like it. Fort George is a 200-year-old fort in majestic Vis. Seeing how it’s a defensive position, it commands the high ground, providing magnificent views of the sea and all-conquering sunsets. Also, it was apparently built by the British when it was still in vogue to squabble over the Adriatic.
