Was Your Flight Disrupted?

First Things First

First of all, you should know your rights! If you are traveling within Europe or with European airlines, EU Regulation 261/2004 applies to you! According to it, you’re entitled to compensation if:

  •   Your flight is delayed by more than 3 hours. It is important to know that delay times are calculated not when the flight leaves the airport, but from the moment it lands at your final destination and the plane doors open.
  •   You missed your connecting flight due to a delay. The airline should provide an alternative flight for you or find a way for you to reach your final destination. However, you still might be entitled to compensation. It’s always good to check for that!
  •   The airline cancels your flight less than 14 days before departure. Even though the company offers you a new flight option, you still might be compensated. If this happens, once you are at the airport, the airline also needs to provide you with a place to spend the night.
  •   You’re not allowed to board a flight, then the compensation might apply to you as well. It happens that airlines overbook their flights expecting that not all passengers show up and they will win some money.

Be Prepared

To avoid any stress while filling the claim form, you need to collect some information of your own in advance. It’s good to know your disrupted flight’s number, date of the trip, departure and arrival airports. The best would be to have your flight itinerary or e-tickets nearby, as well as boarding passes or any proof of flight reservation with a visible airline reservation number (PNR). If you have a flight delay or cancellation notice from the airline, it is going to help you very much. Some airlines require you to provide a passport or identification card to confirm that the same person who experienced the flight disruption is applying for compensation.

Now The Important Part

With Skycop, it is easy to fill in the compensation claim online. Even better if you have all the information mentioned above!

How to do so? Firstly, go to www.skycop.com!  There you will straight away see a button guiding you to a compensation claim form

The following step will allow you to add some comments and express your feelings about the situation by describing it and explaining reasons why the disruption occurred. Also, by entering your email address and familiarizing  yourself with our terms and conditions, your claim will move to the most important part of the claim-filling process!

Here you’re going to need to fill in your flight information: flight number, date, and booking reservation code (PNR). It can be the 5, 6, or 7-symbol confirmation code you used for your booking and online check-in.

The next step is as simple as all the previous ones! Just write down your name and date of birth. Providing your address is very important in case your claim goes to court. If you were not traveling alone, here is the place to add your fellow passenger information. After confirming that all the details provided are correct, an email about the beginning of the compensation retrieval process should reach you in minutes!

Why Signature Is So Important?

For Skycop to help you, next is the most important part for us! You need to sign our Agreements with a signature as similar as to the one on your passport. It is very important for airlines when they are identifying the travelers and the passengers.

As mentioned before, you need to collect some of the documents: boarding passes, passports, itineraries, or disruption confirmations. The following step is when all those documents get uploaded. If you provide  them at the beginning of the claiming process, it will give you a better chance of getting a positive answer about your claim sooner. The part when you upload those documents looks like this:

If you do not have documents with you, no problem. You will get an email which will remind you about missing documents, that stop your compensation request from being approved.

What Else?

There are some things to remember as well to successfully receive your compensation. Claims often have a time limitation period.  In Europe, 2 years is the most common term for flight compensation. That means that if you have experienced any flight disruptions, don’t hesitate to file for compensation.

Skycop can help you not only with flights covered by EU Regulation 261/2004, but also those that fall under the Turkish regulations, as well as Saudi Arabia, or even Brasil!

Airlines may try to avoid paying you the compensation, but Skycop knows your rights and follows all the processes, so you’d receive what is yours. By following these steps, you can make the process of filing a flight compensation claim smooth and hassle-free!
