4 Flower Shows to See If You Don’t Want to Miss Spring
Springtime is flower time. My condolences to those of you suffering from seasonal allergies. But we all enjoy seeing a good bloom – so why not do it as a tourist? Here is Skycop’s shortlist of the best flower shows you should visit.

Girona Temps de Flors

The first Temps de Flors was organized in Girona in 1954. Since then, it has grown from a small event occupying but a single hall of the municipal theatre into an event known to the entire world. Today, it can be seen sprawling all over Old Girona, combining historic buildings and verdant plant life.
The streets and monuments of Girona will be decorated with amazing displays of plant life. In addition to all the flowers, you can expect to see traditional dance and music. It’s a well-rounded festival – and you can probably catch a glimpse of it this year!
Madeira Flower Festival

At the time of writing, the Madeira Flower Festival is already in full swing. The festival began, as always, with a parade of specially dressed children who used flowers to build the Wall of Hope. You can then go visit all the locations that show their arboreal beauty. But that’s not all!
The Flower Allegorical Parade is something like Rio Carnival… if the carnival-goers were all dressed in flowers. You will see so much flora adorning the clothing and floats that you will believe that a garden is marching.
Keukenhof Gardens

Do you like tulips? Well, after visiting Keukenhof Gardens, you will. Every autumn, more than 7 million flower bulbs to bloom in spring, representing 800 varieties of tulips. Each year, the gardens have a different theme, too.
This year, it’s all about “Flower Power.” It was chosen because the garden opens for the 70th time this year, so it was decided to commemorate the 1970s. So get some hippie vibes as you enjoy 32 hectares of flowers.
Incidentally, Tulp Festival 2019 will happen on the last day of the garden operation. So if you visited the Tulip Mania exhibit in Keukenhof, you can visit Amsterdam to see a city go insane for Tulips for a day only.
Chelsea Flower Show

In 1913, the event that would become the Chelsea Flower Show took place for the time. It was cancelled for a time during the darkest years of World War I, but the Royal Horticultural Society perseveres and you can totally see it today.
From such achievements like hosting a marquee held up by 278 tent posts that spent years in the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s largest tent to visits by the queen, the Chelsea Flower Show has produced some amazing sights. It’s still going strong today, as the most famous flower show in the world.
Flower fests are time-sensitive, as far as shows go. Flowers don’t bloom forever, you know (unless they’re plastic, but those don’t count). So if you’re trying to see flowers, yet they all wilt because you were delayed by flight delays, cancellations or overbooking, get back at the airline – and get some money – by claiming flight disruption compensation. They can go up to €600 in size, and claiming via Skycop is much easier than keeping a single potted plant from dying!
