On June 23, Porto burst into life for the Festa de São João. The celebration of St. John the Baptist goes back six centuries and today is the city’s most important festival. The evening begins with street parties and traditional food, leading up to spectacular firework displays over the Douro River. Locals and visitors alike keep the party going well into the morning. Despite its size, the festival is still less known outside Portugal, making it a true hidden gem.
The Festival of the New European Bauhaus
June 9 – 13, 2026, Brussels, Belgium
This June, Brussels becomes home to the Festival of the New European Bauhaus. Over five days, the city will host exhibitions, talks, and performances that bring together art, architecture, and sustainability. Instead of abstract concepts, the festival shows how design can improve everyday life, from the spaces we live in to the way we connect with nature. It’s also a great chance to meet the people behind the ideas and join the conversation yourself.
