A TAROM ATR-42-500 was flying from Bucharest Otopeni (Romania) to Thessaloniki (Greece) with 25 passengers and 4 crew when the crew reported the smell of oil on board. The aircraft aborted climb, turned around and landed safely back at Otopeni. A replacement plane reached the destination with a delay of 2.5 hours, thus making this flight not eligible for compensation.
As terrible weather continues to be terrible, you can observe planes having difficulty taking off here.
It’s not much better in the US – in fact, it’s likely worse. Thousands of flights are disrupted due to terrible cold.
