How it works
Fly USA - Europe
Only if you are flying with an EU-based airline. This means that the airline operating your flight must be headquartered in an EU country.
As an example, Air France or Lufthansa flight from New York to Paris would be covered, but flights with American Airlines or Delta would not be covered.
Fly Europe - USA
Any airline, as long as the flight departs from the EU. This includes flights operated by both EU and non-EU airlines.
As an example, KLM or Delta flight from Amsterdam to Miami.
Delays
If your flight arrives at the final destination more than 3 hours late due to the airline's fault, you are eligible for compensation.
Cancellations
If your flight is cancelled, you could be eligible for compensation, especially if you were informed less than 14 days before departure.
Overbooking
If you are denied boarding due to overbooking, you are likely eligible for compensation.
