What should you do if you want to get a delayed flight compensation?

  1. Unfortunately, knowing that your flight was cancelled is not enough. You should still come to the airport and register to your flight. You will not be able to get compensation if you were not registered for the flight at the airport.
  2. If your flight was cancelled, your carrier must provide you with free meals and drinks. You should also be allowed to make two free calls, use e-mail or send a free fax. If you have to wait for the flight for one or more nights, the carrier must grant you free accommodation at a hotel, including transport to/from the airport.
  3. Don’t accept any compensations which demands you to sign away your right to seek further compensation.
  1. Send the claim for your compensation as soon as possible, because different countries have different compensation time limits.
  2. If your friends or family members were to be on same flight with you, remember that each passenger is eligible to get a compensation.
  3. If you went on a business trip and your ticket was bought by the company – don’t worry. Compensation for cancelled flight belongs to the person whose name is on the ticket.

If you reached your destination more than 3 hours late and travel distance was up to 1,500 km.

If the distance was between 1 500 km and 3 500 km and you reached your destination more than 3 hours late.

€ 600

If the travel distance was over 3 500 km and you reached your destination more than 3 hours late.

Check if EU air passenger rights apply in your case

  1. If your flight is within the EU and is operated either by an EU or a non-EU airline
  2. If your flight arrives in the EU from outside the EU and is operated by an EU airline
  3. If your flight departs from the EU to a non-EU country operated by an EU or a non-EU airline

EU means the 28 EU countries, including Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Réunion Island, Mayotte, Saint-Martin (French Antilles), the Azores, Madeira and the Canary Islands as well as Iceland, Norway and Switzerland.

Ukraine, Turkey and Israel also have their regulations to protect air passenger rights.
