The airline’s staff strikes continue from the beginning of March. Salary increase for employees was the main reason for the strikes period. It looks, that Air France staff is not going to accept the offer from the management, because the unions have already announced about four more days of the strike.
Professional unions representing Air France staff have announced additional strike days on 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th of May. Travellers should be prepared because their travel plans will be most probably disrupted.
According to the Air France web page information, the adaptations are under study and flight schedule will be modified accordingly. When the changes will be known, the information will be announced in public. The airline’s representatives say that it’s too early to evaluate the possible impacts on those days, but the fact is that delayed and cancelled flights can be expected.
“A number of strikes are increasing every year. Unfortunately, there is a possibility that passengers will face problems with delayed or cancelled flights. We think it’s time to take matters into our own hands and try and make the law traveller-friendly, rather than pro-airline. Right now the petition is available on a worldwide community petition platform Avaaz and can be signed by any traveller,” comments Marius Stonkus, the CEO of flight compensation company Skycop.
When a significant amount of signatures will be collected by Skycop – the petition will reach EU lawmakers that will have to reconsider EC 261/2004 Regulation. If you have ever experienced cancelled or delayed flight due to airline staff strikes, you might want to join in on it.
